Jacob is 16 years old and in 11th grade at American Preparatory Academy in West Valley City, Utah. He has been making music for his entire life. Music has always been a huge part of his family with his grandmother founding Brite Music and his mother being an accompanist and music educator. His first instrument was the flute which he learned for a year in Sistema Utah. He later switched to trumpet and started playing in his school 6th grade band as well as Sistema. He was good enough on trumpet to get into Advanced Band, the second highest band at his school. The following year, returning from the COVID-19 pandemic, the tuba player in band was online. My teacher asked if anyone wanted to play tuba and he volunteered. He has been playing tuba ever since and has loved every minute of it. He has continued playing with Sistema Utah and was recently hired as a student instructor. Sistema Utah is also how he first got in touch with his private teacher Dan Trahey. He has been in the Utah All-State Wind Symphony twice and has participated in the National Seminario Ravinia twice.
