This year ESUSA will host its third national youth leader cohort. This is a focus area for ESUSA to develop national and local youth leadership infrastructure as well as pathways to college and careers for students. ESUSA will engage high school students as well as the movement’s growing alumni network in the 2024 Youth Ambassador Cohort. Providing this paid opportunity will not only support individual students in their personal development and skill-building but will help ESUSA build a pathway for future program leaders. This work is relevant because more programs than ever are serving high school students and graduating students for the first time. 60% of members have been in operation for 6-12 years and 1/3 are in years 9-11. This is a critical time for the membership where we have the opportunity to retain and hire alumni. We hope that this will serve as a national model for local organizations.

Youth Ambassadors will engage in a 6 month, bi-monthly remote youth leadership training program which will culminate at the 2024 ESUSA National Symposium at Butler University. The cohort will meet in person at Butler University in Indianapolis for a week of team building and leadership training before utilizing these skills to bring youth voice to the center of 3 presentations, musical performances, and engagement with the conference attendees and local students.

Working with our Youth Leadership Team, these 10 accomplished high school students will prepare and present content for our 2024 El Sistema National Symposium in June 2024.
