My name is Dylan and I am a tenor saxophone player in Chime and SUNY Schenectady’s jazz ensemble. I am in 11th grade but dual enrolled as a pre-med biology major at SUNY Schenectady. Although my dream is to become a doctor, music is central to who I am. From being able to give speeches to support music education to the opportunity to teach younger students to playing in a college jazz ensemble, music has taken me many places and shaped who I am. My goal is to make sure other students get the same, amazing experience I have had with music. I hope to achieve this by continuing to teach younger students, making impactful changes as a representative on Empire State Youth Orchestra’s board, and pioneering the future of equitable musical education as both a student and a leader. I am many things, a musician, a scholar, a teacher, a leader, but most importantly, I care for my community.
