The Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University is proud to collaborate with El Sistema USA to offer up to two full cost of attendance scholarships to the Peabody Conservatory for Fall 2024. El Sistema USA will accept nominations from organizations at any or all of El Sistema USA’s national programs.
Note: Interested students will have all application fees waived.
Since the inception of the El Sistema USA Scholarship at Peabody Conservatory in 2018, 7 students have been awarded full scholarships to attend Peabody. These awards began as full-tuition scholarships with additional financial aid in year one but became full cost-of-attendance awards in year two. The awards will remain full cost-of-attendance for two students selected through the audition and application process.
Additionally, Peabody’s Tuned In Program provides support and employment to El Sistema Alumni during their time at Peabody. Tuned In is the first El Sistema Inspired Program to begin in the United States and has been running for over 15 years. Tuned In serves 125 students through a deep immersion in a progressive music education that includes improvisation, composition, Digital Audio, leadership, individual lessons, group lessons, multiple ensembles, theory, and drumming.
How to Apply:
All students interested in Peabody Conservatory should submit an application to Peabody at peabody.jhu.edu. While the application deadline is December 1, 2023, Peabody will accept late applications from El Sistema USA students.
Students must indicate by checking the appropriate box on the Peabody application that they are a member of an ESUSA program. Peabody will waive the $120 application fee for any student who is from ESUSA. Applicants may as for a fee waiver and assistance with their application by emailing peabodyadmissions@jhu.edu.
Students must be admitted to the Peabody Conservatory by way of audition. All applicants admitted will be reviewed by the Peabody Conservatory Scholarship Committee and recipients of the full cost of attendance awards will be notified immediately.
Applicants should also be aware that in addition to the El Sistema USA Scholarship, Peabody offers numerous other financial awards to qualified applicants.
