The Peabody Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins University is proud to collaborate with El Sistema USA to offer up to two full cost of attendance fellowships to the Peabody Conservatory.

The Bachelor of Music program at Peabody is designed to offer gifted students the training to prepare themselves for careers in classical performance, jazz, hip-hop, dance, composition, music technology, music education, and related areas of professional activity. All students of the Conservatory take required professional development courses administered by the career services office, Launchpad.

El Sistema Fellowship recipients are guaranteed a financial aid package covering the full cost of attendance for the duration of their program.

Peabody also meets 100% of need for all eligible domestic undergraduate students (U.S. citizens, Permanent Residents of the U.S., and undocumented and DACA students) with no-loan financial aid packages.  El Sistema affiliated students who meet this criteria that are not awarded the fellowship noted above will automatically be considered for this need-based aid program once their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the CSS Profile are received.

To Apply

Applications to the Peabody Conservatory must be submitted by the regular decision deadline on December 1st.  All prospective undergraduate deadlines and requirements can be found on the application instructions page. Students must indicate by checking the appropriate box on the Peabody application that they are a member of an ESUSA program and enter their El Sistema USA member program name.

El Sistema applicants are eligible for an application fee waiver. Please email peabodyadmissions@jhu.edu for more information.

This scholarship is intended for students who are active participants of ESUSA member organizations (including Canadian members) and who demonstrate financial need with an annual family income of $100,000 or less.

Students must be admitted to the Peabody Conservatory by way of audition. All applicants admitted will be reviewed by the Peabody Conservatory Scholarship Committee and recipients of the full cost of attendance awards will be notified immediately.

“My time at Peabody has been transformative, providing me with incredible opportunities such as premiering new pieces, recording an album, performing under the direction of Marin Alsop and Joseph Young, and gigging with a Peabody chamber group around Baltimore. The supportive community here has been invaluable, especially being far from home. As the president of La Familia, Peabody’s Latin Student Union, I’ve found a sense of belonging and aim to help other students feel the same. My roots in El Sistema have profoundly shaped me, influencing my passion for Latin music and my dedication to teaching and giving back through programs like Peabody Prep’s Tuned-In and El Sistema USA’s Youth Ambassador Program.”
— Elizabeth Perez-Hickman, El Sistema Fellow at the Peabody Conservatory
