Using the transformative power of music, we foster social-emotional growth, academic achievement, and personal excellence in our students while building community connections.
Position Summary: El Sistema Colorado is seeking a passionate and creative Social Media & Communications Manager to lead our online presence and communications strategy. This individual will play a critical role in sharing the mission and impact of our programs, engaging with our community, and strengthening our digital presence.
Key Responsibilities: Social Media Strategy & Execution: Develop and implement a comprehensive social media strategy to increase engagement, visibility, and awareness across all platforms (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, etc.).
- Create and manage high-quality, engaging content, including graphics, photos, and videos.
- Monitor trends and best practices to optimize social media impact and performance.
- Respond to comments, messages, and inquiries on all social media channels in a timely manner.
Communications & Storytelling:
- Write, edit, and distribute newsletters, press releases, and announcements related to events, programming, and organizational narratives.
- Assist with content creation that highlights student stories, community impact, and donor engagement.
- Maintain consistent branding and tone of voice across all communications.
Website & Digital Presence:
- Update and manage the website, ensuring content is accurate and visually appealing.
- Promptly update the organization website content with changes or stories.
- Optimize SEO and website traffic through strategic updates and monitoring.
- Maintain the organization’s YouTube channel, including content uploads and engagement.
Community Engagement:
- Engage with community members, families, and partners on digital platforms to strengthen connections.
- Use analytics tools to measure engagement and inform communication strategies.
- Attend and capture concerts, events, and special engagements
Donor & Event Support:
- Collaborate with the Executive Director to create digital content for online fundraising campaigns and donor platforms.
- Coordinate development activities with ESC’s marketing strategy and messaging, in conjunction with the Executive Director, including a well-planned year-end annual giving campaign that optimizes all fundraising opportunities (e-blasts, social media, targeted mailings, Colorado Gives Day, etc.).
- Assist with communications related to special events, including invitations, promotions, follow-ups, and fundraising.
Grants & Media Support:
- Support the Grants Manager by providing relevant communications and media for reporting.
- Help create impact reports using testimonials, visuals, and program highlights.
Qualifications:
- Embraces the mission of El Sistema Colorado.
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Arts Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3+ years of experience in social media management, communications, or public relations.
- Highly organized and efficient with a track record of follow-through.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail.
- Proficiency in social media platforms, analytics tools, and content creation software.
- Experience with website management (WordPress, Sqaurespace or similar platforms) and basic graphic design.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and independently when needed.
- Passion for arts education, community engagement, and nonprofit work.
- High level of competence with technology and familiarity with Google Suite.
- Initiative: self-directed, able to set clear targets and achieve results.
- Communication: promptly shares with others as appropriate; can negotiate/persuade as needed.
- Adaptable: open to change and new ideas, handles pressure, deadlines and adjusts to meet changing needs.
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with donor engagement platforms and email marketing software (e.g., DonorPerfect, Constant Contact, Fundraise Up).
- Video editing and graphic design skills (Canva, Adobe Photoshop, or similar).
- Knowledge of trends in nonprofit communications and digital marketing.
- Bilingual Spanish/English a plus.
- Availability some evenings and weekends for events.
Compensation & Benefits:
