About Play On Philly
Play On Philly (POP) is a non-profit organization that provides daily, after-school music instruction to over 300 K-12 students. We work in communities that historically have had little or no access to formal music education.
We are seeking a Choir Teaching Artist (TA) for our Music Center locations in West Philadelphia. This Teaching Artist will lead choral classes while working on repertoire, strengthening aural skills, and encouraging musicianship that ultimately supports students’ progress on their instruments and orchestral growth.
Job Description
Teaching Artists work collaboratively and independently to ensure students are making steady progress on their instruments, music literacy skills, and repertoire and can manage their class to create a safe, welcoming, and rigorous environment in their classrooms and at their Music Centers, at-large. All POP TAs are responsible for encouraging students to adhere to the POP rules and guidelines for student citizenship.
This role is supervised by one of our Program Coordinators and works in partnership with the Program Manager, Music Director, and other POP TAs. As POP team members, TAs actively participate in professional development and continued education to cultivate and hone their teaching skills. We are looking for lifelong learners, and collaboratively natured individuals who enjoy and have experience working with school-aged children (1st – 8th grades), are creative, and can problem-solve and multi-task.

Qualifications
- At least one year of formal music teaching experience with young people.
- You can work occasional nights and weekends as required.
Salary Range
$8,500 – $9,000 for the Winter Spring session (January – May)
Salary is contingent upon class schedule and scope of work.
Work Commitment
January 3, 2024 – May 24, 2024.
(There will be no program during the week of March 25th.)
The schedule below is an estimate of the hours for this position.
- St. Francis de Sales School: Mondays and Thursdays, 2:30pm – 5:15pm
- St. Rose of Lima School: Tuesdays 1:30pm – 4:15pm, Fridays 2:30pm – 5:15pm
(On Fridays, this role will be supporting music ensemble groups)
