To introduce and engage new violin students in grades 4, 5 and 6, build trust, and ensure the acquisition of foundational musical, social, and emotional skills.
Monday Through Thursday after school hours, potentially Saturday morning also (schedule subject to negotiation).

Role and Responsibilities
1) Strive to create programming that is culturally responsive and community-based, aligning with Harmony Project’s mission.
2) Provide instruction, which may involve virtual as well as in-person teaching, to students in 4th through 6th grades, and potentially extend it to an older group of 6th to 9th graders who are at the beginning/lower intermediate level.
– Collaboratively plan with and receive feedback from HP staff AND students and families
– Contribute to and implement a curriculum that is holistic and responsive and takes into account our students’ mental, emotional, and physical wellbeing
– Incorporate lesson planning that highlights our students’ diasporas
– Prioritize musical language fluency through various methods over conservatory approaches, including improvisation and composition
– Creatively teach twice-weekly group lessons
– Prepare students and create content for culminating events such as concerts and gatherings
4) Progress Check-in Assessments
– Build relationships and create community with parents and students, ensuring they are notified of their children’s musical progress, successes, and areas for improvement
– Identify student struggles early and create a plan to address the issue
– Regularly communicate with HP staff
5) Professional Responsibilities
– Maintain attendance records
– Maintain contact with families
– Plan and co-teach with fellow teaching artist(s)
– Execute additional administrative tasks as necessary
