Paterson Music Project provides tuition-free afterschool music programming for 600 students in Paterson, New Jersey. Students study a primary instrument and participate in ensemble practice, instrumental sectionals, private lessons, and performances. Outside of standard orchestral instruments, PMP also offers guitar, keyboard and hand drumming. Students who study a primary instrument also participate in either choir, hand-drumming or jazz improv.
Paterson recently opened two new sites that focus specifically on jazz. They now have about 130 students at three sites in their jazz program.
