2023 Youth Ambassador Jemima Verebasaga

Jemima Verebasaga is a senior in high school at Raven Homeschool in Juneau, Alaska. She is a violinist of thirteen years and began learning her instrument at the El Sistema program, Juneau Alaska Music Matters (JAMM), founded in 2010 by Doctor Lorrie Heagy. Her current involvement in this program is under the role of a paid high school teaching assistant. One of Jemima’s favorite things about the JAMM program is its welcoming environment for all who wish to join. She is enthusiastic to see how her participation as an ESUSA Youth Ambassador will help her identify strategies to improve the program. After her upcoming high school graduation, Jemima plans to study for her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education at the University of Alaska Southeast campus in Juneau.
