Jabari is a freshman tubist at Baltimore School for the Arts. His music journey began in the 3rd grade at Commodore John Rodgers Elementary/Middle School when he was chosen to play the oboe and be able to get free private lessons with the first chair Oboist at the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra Sandy Lisicky. That year he started twigs and was getting classes about music there also which were theory, jazz, and band. He went to twigs all the way to the 8th grade and during the 7th grade he was able to choose another instrument so he switched to the tuba. He auditioned into BSA and got in and is now enjoying the music life. He attends Johns Hopkins Peabody Preparatory Institute tuned-in program on Saturdays and used to get lessons from Jarrel Garner the tuba private lesson teacher at Peabody who played for the Maryland Army National Guard who also graduated from Peabody also. Now gets lessons from Dr. Jasmine Pigott. Jabari accomplished another great accomplishment of getting in the Senior All-State Band as a sophomore in highschool. He’s grown very much as a tuba player as he gets to experience All-State and keep on doing what he’s doing in school and other places.
