“Creating a Pipeline in Historically Underserved Communities: Establishing Youth Orchestras in African-American and Latino Communities” with Charles Dickerson, Executive Director and Conductor, Inner City Youth Orchestra of Los Angeles. This presentation discussed the lack of a pipeline for historically underrepresented people to prepare for careers in American orchestras. Charles detailed the development of the Inner City Youth Orchestra of Los Angeles as one solution to the lack of pipeline, sharing student success stories and video of IYOLA performances.
