After a work career that included positions in technical theater (collegiate and professional), manufacturing and franchising, Susan Suhr came to realize that her purpose in life is to help others succeed and find self-gratification by following their own passions. In 2003 Susan helped found Wireless Zone Foundation for Giving, Inc., eventually becoming president. The Foundation is supported by franchisees of the Wireless Zone system, and her involvement included interacting with numerous charities, on both the local and national levels, as well as with donors. As founder of New Start Ministry, Susan is leading a large team of people, from numerous towns and faith communities in Connecticut, dedicated to assisting refugees from the Middle East (brought to our country by the U.S. Department of State) become self-sufficient and contributing members of their new communities.
Susan was introduced to the El Sistema movement through Bravo! Waterbury, in Connecticut, where she visited classes and greatly enjoyed interacting with the children – she even donated her violin to the program. Music has always been an important part of Susan’s life, and she appreciates the opportunity to encourage and enable more people to experience the joy and self-fulfillment that can come with music performance.
Susan earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Bucknell University, and an MBA in International Business & Finance from New York University.
