Nexx (he/they) was born in Thailand in a refugee camp and moved to the United States with their immediate family at the age of two, first living in Texas. They moved to Minnesota, living in different areas of Saint Paul where there are more opportunities for Karen people like Nexx’s family. Nexx is a current junior at Creative Arts Secondary School where they participate in the theater, music and Karen language programs. Nexx is a member of No Place for Hate, which is an anti-bullying organization at their school aiming to decrease bullying through conversations, events, and especially awareness. Nexx has been a Music Program Assistant at ComMUSICation (CMC) since 2022. At CMC, Nexx has improved their confidence and communication skills while working with youth as a mentor and adults. They are working on developing their vocal range as they explore their identity. Nexx is hoping to move to New York City after graduation to study fashion and film, and will be a theater kid at heart.
