Congratulations to all the students who participated in the National Seminario Ravinia from Wednesday, July 5 through Saturday, July 8, 2023. We thank Ravinia for their vision and leadership in organizing and running this event which benefited El Sistema students nationally and beyond! An ensemble of 130 students from 15 states and Canada had the opportunity to partner with the Chicago Philharmonic led by Marin Alsop and Jonathan Rush. El Sistema USA partnered with National Seminario Ravinia to lead a Youth Leader cohort and provide professional development to teachers and chaperones.
ESUSA Partners with National Seminario Ravinia to Lead Youth Leader Cohort
The El Sistema USA Youth Leader Cohort did an excellent job of leading welcome songs, icebreaker activities, interviewing the conductors Marina Alsop & Jonathan Rush on a panel, and conducting focus groups with their peers.
ESUSA Facilitates Professional Development Sessions at National Seminario Ravinia
ESUSA facilitated three Professional Development sessions with teachers and chaperones on Youth Leadership with Scott Edgar, Elizabeth Moulthrop, Ebonie Piere, and Vivan Gonzalez. These sessions discussed topics such as “Why Youth Leadership: Preparing Our Students and Field for the Future”, “Youth Leadership, Empowerment, & Agency Through Musical Social Emotional Learning” and “Empowering Youth Leaders Through Understanding Behavior”.
